THE CIVIL PARISH OF CHESHAM BOIS

BACKGROUND

The Parish of Chesham Bois, (pronounced ‘boys’), covers approximately 1 sq. mile and lies between the towns of Amersham and Chesham in the Chiltern District of south Buckinghamshire. The name derives from the Norman ‘de Bois’ family who were the first Lords of the Manor.  The area is only partly  ‘built up’ as the village benefits from a large area of common and woodland which contributes to a part rural, part urban atmosphere.  There are approximately 3,000 residents of all ages living in about 1,000 households and the village centre has a small parade of shops. All in all it is an area of charm and relative tranquillity in the heart of the beautiful Chilterns whilst benefiting from a fast rail connection to central London via Amersham and easy access to the M25.
