Accessibility
Accessible websites are very important, as they allow people, using different types of PC and different versions of software to access your information exactly as you want them to access it.
It will genuinely amaze you to see how someone using almost exactly the same computer as you, but a different type of software, may see your website displayed completely different to how it might appear on your screen. Properly coded websites do not do this, and if you were to view this website on almost any computer in the world, it would appear exactly the same as it does now.
However, there is another reason why it is especially important for Parish Councils to have fully accessible websites, and this is to ensure that all people, even the visually impaired, are able to view your website. This will ensure that you meet your mandatory requirements under the Disability Discrimination Act 1995, to which all government bodies must comply.
If you purchase a website package from ParishCouncil.net, we will ensure that your website meets all the requirements under this and any other legal provisions, such as Data Protection or Freedom of Information.
Please give us a call or send us an email to discuss further what legal obligations you must meet with your website.
