Walking Try the new Wokingham Way 55 miles roughly following the borough boundary, split into 10 easy sections. Is being signposted during 2013 but instructions can be downloaded here. Dinton Walking group run local walks in the area. They meet regularly at Barkham Village Hall. Local Walk around Barkham by the Loddon Valley Ramblers Association Group The Walking in Berkshire website links to more than 70 free Berkshire walks to download plus details of books, maps and local walking groups Local walk as listed on Walking World site (Note: Access is via a subscription fee) Local Clubs and associations. There area has many clubs including a tennis club, cricket club, several golf clubs and a well-known private spa and gym complex that lies just outside the Parish boundaries. Explore our Directory for more details of all the local clubs and associations. There are numerous local clubs and associations which meet at Barkham Village Hall and can be seen on that page. The Hall offers facilities for celebrating events and meetings. Sam Hosgood Sporting endeavour Fund The Parish Council supports local athletes through the Sam Hosgood Sporting endeavour Fund. It was established by former Parish Council Chairman Sam Hosgood and is awarded annually in September to the finest young sportsmen and women in Barkham who compete for their country. The awards are designed to help in a small way with the costs of training and travel. Applications can be made anytime between 1 May and 30 June. Wokingham The centre of Wokingham has a full range of leisure activities including a local library , swimming pool, a ten pin bowling alley and it's own football club.. Additionally we have our own local newspaper The Wokingham Times which contains Barkham news as well, this can be seen On-line as well. |
