Haldon Belvedere

Haldon Belvedere is not in Doddiscombsleigh but if it was, it would probably be the most romantic place to get married in Devon. Mind you, in its current location it has already been voted the most romantic place to get married in Devon. There are no plans to move it, not least because Haldon Belvedere occupies a fabulous spot at the top of the Haldon ridge with a 360o view to the Exe Estuary, Exmoor, Dartmoor and of course Doddiscombsleigh. Haldon Belvedere is considered by many to be a folly. So who built it and why? We’d like someone to write a piece here with a Doddiscombsleigh perspective.
